Just last summer I was with this family, celebrating another Markey Daughter getting married, and it really is supremely special to be a familiar face at a wedding, because it puts everyone at more ease with me.

Annie + Jonas had different wedding plans, but when Covid entered the scene, they decided to host an intimate wedding at their home in Detroit with just their family before their careers would take them to Seattle temporarily! Lucky for them they have renters to take care of their home until they return!

Do you remember the wedding I photographed last year where the Mother of the Bride had their laundry room and garage walls covered in framed childhood art from all four of her kids? This is that family. So it was no surprise when things started happening, like when Jonas’ Grandmother handed her late husbands wedding band over to Annie to slide onto his finger… And the way Jonas’ Dad reached for her when she sat back down…Or when Annie’s brother came down the aisle with the cat, and even got himself some flowers to throw, or the fact that their sisters were the ones to marry them!!!!! Or that neither of them had any real interest in removing confetti out of their hair before heading out to take photos because it was real life.

This wedding season has been very different, but it’s still yanking on my heartstrings.
